Lance Armstrong’s Favorite Bike
Lance Armstrong is perhaps the most notable cyclist today and known worldwide. He has been an inspiration to many, having won the Tour de France a number of times, even while suffering from cancer. Unfortunately though Lance was forced to quit his favorite sport because of cancer but he came back after his successful treatment and is even stronger now than he was before. It is truly a remarkable recovery.
When Lance came back he was not sure if he would be able to compete any longer and his sole aim was to fight cancer and to instill confidence upon others suffering from cancer. On his return to international circuit he used the new custom painted Madone that has two significant numbers 1274 and 27.5. The first number shows the number of days on retirement and the second shows that during that time about 27.5 million people succumbed to cancer. He realized that his life is a mission and that he could be an inspiration to many all over the world.
Trek builds exceptional bikes and Lance’s choice was a 58cm 2009 Madone 6.9 Pro Fuselage and the company offers the very same bike to the public with the very same features if you have the budget to buy it. With bold black and yellow paint scheme this is a beautiful high performance bike and it’s no wonder why Lance Armstrong prefers this bike. While many bikes use decals as a way to add style to the bike, the Trekk Madone is styled only using painted letters and numbers, which makes this bike truly unique and sought after.
Unfortunately on February 15th, 2009 some very dishonest people chose to steal Lance’s favorite custom bike. While it may be worth a fortune, because Lance has made such an impact all over the world, it’s unlikely that a buyer could purchase this bike in good conscience.
