John Pennekamp Coral Reef State - Key Largo, Florida
Southeast Florida tourism has some spectacular things for you to do and one of them is a visit John Pennekamp Coral Reef State in Key Largo, Florida. This was the first underwater park in the US and encompasses approximately 79 nautical square miles. On land you will be able to enjoy the mangrove swamps and tropical hammocks in the park’s upland areas. The real beauty is below water level where you will see beautiful coral reefs and their associated marine life.
Non-divers can enjoy the area too with a tour on the glass bottom boats. Enjoy seeing the colorful fish and beautiful coral reefs that will be visible to you from the boat. Perhaps you want to try your hand at canoeing or kayaking, you can certainly do that too. If fishing is your thing there are areas at the park that are designated for fishing so go try your luck.
If you are handicapped and think that the park won’t be a good place for you, think again. The park is set up with nearly everything you could wish for including raised grills, raised toilets, ramps, roll-aboard boats and much more. So get out and enjoy the park, they will be delighted that you came to visit.
